South Africa is a country tormented by a past of enforced racism and separation of its multi-racial community. The 'superior' white Europeans invaded the country and imposed a political system known as 'Apartheid' (meaning 'apartness'). This system severely restricted the rights and lifestyle of the non-white inhabitants of the country forcing them to live separately from the white Europeans. While most are more than happy to forget the prejudiced way in which society operated, some still believe that although apartheid is no longer in place, that it is the way society should be. This way of thought may be something that South Africa may never get rid of.
