ROCK TYPES
There were three different rock types found at Joggins. The three types were shale, siltstone and sandstone. These rocks were formed around three hundred million years ago. Shale is easily reconizable by its appearence. It is flat, dark in colour, brittle, and gives the appearence of being labeled. Sandstone is usually light in colour heavy, and is formed by sediment that is visable by the human eye. Siltstone is very much like sandstone,

EVIDENCE OF DIFFERENTIAL EROSION
Both at Clark’s Head and Joggins there was evidence of differential erosion. When at Joggins at the stairs leading to the bus, erosion was much more evident here then in other part of the beach. The reason for this was the stream running in to the bay. It caused quiker erosion then areas with no stream.
