not a theologian, nor was he a religious reformer. He was a writer and humanist. He made one think and decide one’s own opinions. He also spoke up for what he believed in. He was a great leader. Since he was such a great leader, he had many followers and still does. These people converted to Roman Catholicism and opposed Lutheranism fiercely. They did this because they believed in Erasmus’s writing so much.
