I was rather confused about the schism and which Pope was which, and I had to read over that section a few times.         The author, Marion Johnston, settled in Rome after being sent there by the British Foreign Office. She became interested in the Borgia family after discovering them in Augustus Hare's Walks in Rome. She realized through Hare's book that even today the Borgia Legacy lives on.
