I: Original Interpretation and Analysis
“A Scrap Of Sky” - George Bradley
When first reading “A Scrap Of Sky,” I overlooked what I believe to be the true meaning of this poem. I read it thinking that it was solely the story of observing a bluebird’s struggle during nesting season. In reality, I think that George Bradley was trying to convey the sheer greatness of the bluebird’s attitude towards life, and that human beings

half way through, when Bradley begins telling about how awful it is that the sparrow will steal the bluebird’s nest. To help with a pleasant sound, the sonnet also has a rhyme scheme. Words at the end of different lines within the poem rhyme with ending words of other lines. Iambic pentameter, or lines with five beats, is the partner of rhyme scheme to help with the easy listening qualities of a sonnet.
