As a senior in high school, I was assigned to read a speech by Queen Elizabeth I of England. Having “senioritis,” I had no desire to get into any piece of writing. Much to my surprise, I was very impressed with how much her speech moved me. I enjoyed reading this speech because her because it effectively depicted the heart of a loving Queen who understood the sacrifices needed to protect England.
