For example, “He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning (18).” Onomatopoeia is also used quite frequently, “…hoots (4),” “…choking, drowning (19).” Owen also uses metaphors in the poem “…drunk with fatigue (4) ” An ecstasy of fumbling…(6).” In conclusion, I am very thankful that I have not had to fight in any wars.
