Flory does even though he had to go against everyone else’s opinions. U Po Kyin learns about Flory’s help and targets Flory instead. He publicly humiliates him and destroys Flory’s chances with Elizabeth. Not able to withstand life without Elizabeth, Flory takes his own life.
This tragedy involved all four of the main characters and their actions. Each of the characters motivated each other to committing deeds leading to Flory’s downfall.
