For one, these "monsters" lived in caves, and two, they weren't monsters at all, they were just a clan of crazed humans. After reading Beowulf and watching The 13th Warrior, I have bettered myself in understanding what life was like in that time period. At the same time, I discovered both works many similarities and differences.
